Now, the Servant, who held a special position of great power in the King’s court, had heard all about the Realm of New Beginnings. Initially, he supported the King and his plan to share his joy with the residents of this new realm. They talked often about it, about how wonderful it would be to see the subjects there as happy and joyful as those in the Great Realm. In time, however, the Servant grew jealous of the King, for he wanted to be the one with the magical powers. He wanted to be the one that others looked to for true happiness.
And so, the Servant quit visiting the King.
It was during that time that the Servant came up with his own plan. Leaving the First Realm, he would move to the Realm of New Beginnings where he would work to convince the residents there to follow him, to look to him as their ruler. He would attempt to show them that he could make others feel even more happy than the King.
The Servant knew he could not do this on his own, though. He needed help. Before leaving the Great Realm, he managed to convince others of certain “lies” about the King—and he persuaded them to leave the First Realm and to come with him. He even pledged to them a special magic of his own. This was only possible because this powerful Servant, who’d been a favorite of the King, possessed a certain measure of magic, a gift from the King long ago.
But, alas, he did not possess the full magic of the King which meant that the happiness he could offer would be extremely limited. It was not the kind of joy and contentment that the King offered, for it lasted a very short time. Shortly after one drank from the Servant’s chalice, he would once more be unhappy and even angry.
Of course, the Servant did not tell the King of his plans. He simply followed the King to the new realm and waited in the shadows for the right moment to make his move.
